Clothing Update from Squadra

August 11, 2009 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

After trading a few emails back and forth with Dough (Greg Demgen, Sales and Marketing Chief at Squadra), it looks like our new clothing will be ready to ship from Squadra in Carlsbad, California, to X-Men HQ in Park City, Utah. Thanks to all the club members who placed their orders promptly and have waited patiently. We got a late start this year with the new kit, but I am feeling good about getting the club back on track and this is just the start. I will post again when the goods arrive. Thanks!

New Bibshort Design Finalized

July 05, 2009 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

We are pleased to unveil our 2009 bibshort design which completes the new team kit. Don (the design guy at Squadra) was working on a new design for us based on a yet-to-be-released pattern that incorporates sublimated side panels, back panel and lower leg wrap panels, all in one piece of fabric. We will be the first team in the U.S. that will get this new cut, as Squadra won’t be introducing it into their line until 2010. Take a look and see how it jives with the jersey design. We tried in the past to carry the stripes all the way down, but it never looked quite right because of the different fabric panels. Visit the Clothing Page to Pre-Order your bibshorts now, as we will only do one order for bibs this year. We will offer both men’s and women’s. The women’s have a special women-specific chamois pad and a shorter length cut. Please note, the images make it look like these are not bibshorts, but this is just for design purposes to show off the printed area. We are definitely ordering bibs, and only bibs.

New Jersey Designs

April 25, 2009 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

Below are three options for 2009 X-Men jersey designs. Not really new designs, but color choices. Here’s some history. From about 1996 to 2000, we had the blue and black stripes. This is the classic old-school design, before we started messing with colors. There was a white and light blue version for two years, then a green and white that didn’t work out too well, then in 2006-2008, we went with the red and blue comic book colors. As much as I liked the change of the red and blue, we heard “spiderman”, “bert and ernie”, and “Backyardigans.” The three options below are where we are heading this year. Perhaps a returnt to the classic blue and black? What about the new blue and brown? Give us your thoughts, as we will be making a decision soon based on what the group wants. As always, clothing will be manufactured by Squadra, which means it won’t be cheap, but it will last forever.

Updated Info On Membership Page

April 15, 2009 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

I just updated some details on the Membership page, including some basic info on the difference between being a USA Cycling “Sponsored” club versus an “Unsponsored” club. Basically, we’re “Unsponsored”, unless anyone has a bunch of sponsors and feels like putting on a bike race (trust me, you don’t want to). For any members interested in riding for the X-Men in 2009, please contribute by paying annual dues of $25. I have set up a club Paypal account and as soon as it is verified, will post a button on the Membership page to make it easy.

X-Men Alumni Send Me Links

March 29, 2009 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

Friends, foes, and alumni, send me the links to your blogs. Racer is on the blogroll because he is one of the greatest X-Men members of all time. Primetime Sly Fox aka Bike Husla has been posted on the blogroll, because even though he’ll never admit it, he’s been hard to join the X-Men from the day he was born. Who else? The Rev is in the house? Where’s Linde Smith? Where’s Dave Tsai? If you have a blog or site and you were a former member, comment here and I’ll add.

New website for the X-Men

March 29, 2009 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

After a long hiatus from having a live website, the X-Men are back. This site will serve as a resource for both existing members, new members and fans. We’re building this new site on a WordPress platform and hope to add many enhancements along the way. Thanks for checking us out.
